It's supposed to snow this weekend, so I'm excited about the prospect of making snowmen! Last time it snowed in Yorktown, rain came chasing right after the flurries and melted everything. I just want some snow before it becomes spring.
A friend of mine just commissioned me to design a logo for her radio show in Boston, and I went kind of nuts on the prelim sheet.
The show is mainly about printed poetry, so she wanted a stack of books wearing headphones. I think I like #16 the best due to simplicity and symmetry.
For some reason, the only things I can seem to draw are endearingly cute guttersnipes.
I imagine that they spend their free time (which is all the time since they are certainly truant) improving their slingshots and inventing new ways to annoy the big dog in the corner yard. Deep down, though, they have hearts of gold and do things like feed stray cats and help old ladies across the street (though none will admit to such acts).
Happy 2010. Please enjoy this seemingly carnivorous newt. My wishes for the new year include getting more blog followers and seeing more diverse blog updates. Also, a job would be cool.
My friend Lauren and I spent some time making stamps earlier this week. By "stamps" I really mean "a huge mess". We received a request to design a simple logo and create a stamp for the winter soiree held by Thomas Nelson Community College's Student Association. Naturally, we had to make some mistakes before getting it right; we made a stamp for "Essay" instead of "SA", so we ended up having to redo the whole thing...at least we got some practice in, right? Really, though, we had a lot of fun. There are only photos of Lauren testing the stamps, but I promise that I did some work, too!
