You might not think so, but simplifying takes a long time.

I recently did a drawing to be used as a watermark for my stepdad's retirement party invitation. Now, I use the word "drawing" loosely, since I relied heavily on a photo to produce this image quickly and accurately; I outright traced over large areas, then went back in to pull out highlights and add detail. The result:

Hello there, USS Harry S. Truman. A Nimitz-class carrier was chosen because my stepdad has worked on every Nimitz-class carrier to be built by the Newport News Shipbuilding Company.

Stupid Profile Pictures

One for Jordan, and one for me.

Pai Sho Flower Tiles

One of the kids in the programming course here is making a Pai Sho game for his project. One of the other instructors and I got coerced into making his tiles, so here are the flowers. Left to right: white jade, jasmine, rose, rhododendron, and chrysanthemum.

I wish I had named it "Oh Snap."

Please enjoy my hobby photo blog, ceevee photo. It's a lot of old stuff right now, but it's pretty much going to be an album.

Saturday is a good day for cute desktops.

Making cute vector art is very therapeutic. This image was created to show as a demo for my graphic design class two weeks ago. Teaching thirteen-year-olds how to use Illustrator is challenging. It's kind of, "Yeah, brush tool!" and "Pen tool is too hard!" I was a tyrant and banned them from using their tablets for an entire morning, and I was rewarded with many groans of frustration.

Logo time, again.

This one'll serve as part of a sample project for camp training this weekend. The "business" is a fashion photography studio. As usual, I began complicated (35mm film) and ended simply (red&black).

It reproduces well small, which makes me a happy camper.

Bad Cat image sampler.

I'm building a video game - a side-scrolling action RPG, specifically. I have been introduced to the amazing software developed by Clickteam and the Multimedia Fusion Developer has been consuming my free time. These little icons were put together in Adobe Illustrator. Map samples are next.

Just some Dragon Age shenanigans.

I got my scanner out of storage! I have a lot of sketchbook pages to scan, and a photo essay to edit from my trip to Rome. Until then, enjoy my awful sense of humor regarding party banter in Dragon Age.

One week.

Dragon Age: Origins keeps me well-occupied while I await the release of Pokémon Soul Silver.

High Volumes is finished!

Final work for High Volumes. My favorite part was definitely drawing the caricatures for the host's info page.

More High Volumes

A revised set of logos for "High Volumes".

It's supposed to snow this weekend, so I'm excited about the prospect of making snowmen! Last time it snowed in Yorktown, rain came chasing right after the flurries and melted everything. I just want some snow before it becomes spring.

Oh logos.

A friend of mine just commissioned me to design a logo for her radio show in Boston, and I went kind of nuts on the prelim sheet.

The show is mainly about printed poetry, so she wanted a stack of books wearing headphones. I think I like #16 the best due to simplicity and symmetry.

Adorable Urchins

For some reason, the only things I can seem to draw are endearingly cute guttersnipes.

I imagine that they spend their free time (which is all the time since they are certainly truant) improving their slingshots and inventing new ways to annoy the big dog in the corner yard. Deep down, though, they have hearts of gold and do things like feed stray cats and help old ladies across the street (though none will admit to such acts).

It's finally 2010

Happy 2010. Please enjoy this seemingly carnivorous newt. My wishes for the new year include getting more blog followers and seeing more diverse blog updates. Also, a job would be cool.
